    As soon as she heard the telephone start to ring, Susan knew. She didn't
know how she knew, but she knew unmistakably. It had been three weeks since she
had seen or spoken to Jerry, but she knew with absolute certainty that it was he

dark winter sky.  She had been sleeping in Erica's 
bedroom now for months, and fortunately Tiffany had not 
made an issue of it.  But it still felt strange 
sleeping in Erica's bed, wearing her clothes, and 
living her life.  It had been six months since her 
death last summer, and the time had gone by quickly.
